A meeting point of people, culture and information

In 1995, Sanoma organised an architectural competition for the design of a new head office. The contest was won by Prof. Jan Söderlund and Architect Antti-Matti Siikala with their translucent glass creation, which is the forerunner of a new international trend of glass architecture in Finland. Special attention was given in the design to the glass concepts of facades: generous use of glass underscores the openness and lightness of the building.

Sanoma House in situated at the very center of Helsinki, to the north of the Helsinki Railway Station and the Main Post Office, beside Kiasma, the Museum of Contemporary art.

The first floor of Sanoma House is covered space largely open to the public, with the building divided along two diagonal axes forming pedestrian thoroughfares. One diagonal axis opens up to the Eliel Squre entrance on the western side of the railway station and heads to the National Museum in Töölö. The other diagonal axis starts on the second floor, from the Kiasma direction (the Museum of Contemporary Art). The entrance to Sanoma News is from the northeast, from the Töölönlahti Bay direction (adress: Töölönlahdenkatu 2).
